Introducing "April Beats Bring Hearts 2 Meet"! This event is all about celebrating our LGBTQ+ small businesses and clients, while also making a positive impact on our community. Inspired by the saying, "April showers bring May flowers," the idea for this event began to bloom.
​
I believe in the power of music to unite people, which is why it's at the heart of "April Beats." Music has a way of bringing us together, regardless of our differences. And when we come together with the intention of supporting our fellow brothers and sisters, it's truly a beautiful thing.
​
The success of this event hinged on the support of Jedd, the mastermind behind JeddXM. As the owner of JeddXM, he orchestrates and produces numerous large-scale events for brands. Renowned for his organizational prowess, troubleshooting skills, and track record of delivering successful outcomes, Jedd proved to be an indispensable asset for me while planning.

Navigating the complexities of organizing a charity event with my limited experience would have been daunting without Jedd's expertise. His guidance and mentorship were instrumental every step of the way, ensuring that the event flowed seamlessly from conception to execution.

As soon as we learned about the remarkable work of this non-profit organization, the decision became clear - Stepping Stone would be our beneficiary for April Beats.

We all have personal experiences or know someone affected by addiction, mental health challenges, or homelessness. It's imperative to have support programs in place to aid our brothers and sisters facing these struggles. Stepping Stone's dedication to our local LGBTQ+ community during their most vulnerable moments is truly commendable.
​

As I eagerly awaited their response on Instagram, their engagement with our event became immensely significant. Determined to celebrate inclusivity, our event aims to embrace all individuals and lifestyles. Often, social gatherings revolve around alcohol, leaving those who opt for a non-alcoholic lifestyle with limited options.
Good News Bar is an inclusive third space that embodies inclusivity, challenging the notion that alcohol is a prerequisite for celebration and connection. Their innovative approach offers elevated non-alcoholic cocktails in a vibrant bar setting, providing a refreshing alternative for our community. As the event planning unfolded, our search for LGBTQ+ businesses to provide treats for our guests led us to Sugar Bears. Eager to include them in our event, I swiftly reached out and awaited their response. Fortunately, they were quick to reply with enthusiasm, excited to support our mission to raise funds for Stepping Stone.

Recently opening their 3rd location in Gaslamp, now their flagship store, Jedd and I were thrilled to pay them a visit during their Grand Opening weekend after completing our first walk-through at the event venue, the Radian. Let me tell you, their array of treats looked absolutely amazing! We couldn't resist indulging in the cheesecake brownie and carrot cake cupcake, both of which were incredibly delicious—you simply must try them!
​
But here's the best part: if you're too lazy to visit in person or unable join us at the event, you're in luck! Sugar Bears offers delivery options through Doordash, Grubhub, and other platforms.
​
Their reputation precedes them, having been voted the best desserts by sandiegoreader in '22 and '23.

As the momentum for our charity event surged forward, we realized the importance of finding the perfect partner to amplify our mission. Gentry, with genuine enthusiasm, expressed her interest in being a part of this incredible opportunity where the community supports each other.
